![]() That means you'll need to get an additional USB-C-to-USB-A cable in order to charge the phone with most computers. This is great, but Google has only included a USB-C-to-USB-C cable in the box. For the uninitiated, USB Type-C is a reversible connector that will fit in the port no matter how you put it in, and it promises to transmit data at faster speeds too. At the bottom is a headset jack plus a USB Type-C port, which is newly supported by Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Underneath the display is the front-facing speaker grille, which hides an RGB LED indicator behind it. Sitting above the aforementioned screen is a 5-megapixel, front-facing camera plus an ambient light sensor. Much of the phone's hardware doesn't seem too different from other Android phones - there's the volume rocker and power button on the right side and a SIM card tray on the left. And although it might be small, the 5X still manages to squeeze in a roomy 5.2-inch display, thanks to some relatively slim bezels. I could easily tap through apps while holding the phone one-handed and it fits into my back pocket with only a tiny bit sticking out. As someone with relatively small hands, I have to say I appreciate the form factor. Measuring 147 x 72.6 x 7.9mm, the 5X is definitely tinier than both the Nexus 6 and the 6P, and would likely please anyone who was a fan of the original Nexus 5. While there's certainly a growing trend toward larger phones like the Nexus 6P, there's still a segment of the population that is much more comfortable with something more pocket-friendly. Part of the 5X's appeal is its smaller size. Sure, it won't win any design awards, but for an affordable phone, the 5X's simple style is more than acceptable. ![]() I like the look of the creamy white backplate - which also comes in a beautiful robin's egg blue and the standard black - especially in contrast with the black front frame. On the contrary, it's rather adorable, with gently rounded corners, a slender profile and smooth, curved edges that lead to an incredibly comfortable feel in the hand. Still, taken on its own, the 5X isn't exactly lacking in the looks department. Compared to the larger, all-metal 6P, the 5X and its plastic hardware seem downright homely. Its polycarbonate, lightweight shell and vanilla design make it feel more sporty than posh more family sedan than luxury sports car. You can access file system and do things in a way that is more comfortable. The Nexus 5X is by no means a premium smartphone. Apps can talk to each other, just like the way they do in any other Android phone. You can copy stuff between your phone and computer by drag-and-drop method, something you cannot do on iPhone. Combined with Android's inherent open nature - by open I don't mean open source but the way things are done in the OS - it turns the Nexus 5 into a phone that you can use in a way you can't use iPhone or any other phone. With its unique, smooth and subtle animations, the Lollipop is a joy to use. When used on the Nexus 5, the Lollipop turns the phone into a different kind of Android device - one which is not only multi-functional but also runs slick and modern looking software. With the Lollipop update, the stock aka pure version of Android looks as good as iOS, if not better. But Android, even at its best, was barely passable. Or they would call Windows Phone beautiful. ![]() You may have seen the screenshots but they don't do justice to it.
